In 1897, it was noted in Australia that children were becoming ill after chewing on porch railings.

Again in Australia, in 1907, specialists noted that lead poisoning was a direct result of paint powder that stuck to children’s fingers, which they then put in their mouths.

By the middle of the 1920's, painters unions in the United States were fighting aggressively to remove lead from their work environments.

In 1938, the Lead Industries Association (LIA) launched a campaign that would “help dispel fear or apprehension about its use” as well as “to offset the stigma attached to lead.”

This campaign specifically promoted lead paint for interior use in low-cost homes due to its affordability in comparison to non-lead paint

Then in 1943 Time magazine ran a report based on the work of pediatrician Randolf Byers and psychologist Elizabeth Lord.

Time reported that “parents lack of understanding of the dangers of lead-based paint led many to use the toxic material on toys, cribs and windowsills. When children chewed the painted surfaces, a variety of physical and nervous disorders resulted.”

This brought the issue of lead in paint to public awareness.

Yet continuing into 1952, the LIA promoted the usefulness of white lead paint while ignoring the mounting evidence of its dangerous qualities.

The Director of Health and Safety of the Lead Industries Association noted 197 reports of lead poisoning in nine cities. Forty of the cases proved to be fatal.

His only reaction was to say that childhood lead poisoning was a “major headache” and a source of increasing negative publicity.

Children were dying and this guy was upset because it was a "major headache"!

Even in the face of mounting scientific evidence and widespread recognition within the medical community that lead paint was hazardous -- the lead paint industry did not warn consumers of the dangers until they were forced by LAW to do so - in the 1970's!

Here's how "safe" we are when big companies smell money:

• People were aware of the problem of lead poisoning in children in 1897
• Scientific studies worthy of the attention of TIME magazine appeared in the 1940's, describing the connection between lead and childhood illnesses that affected brain development.
• In response, lead producing companies ran ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS to discredit the scientific facts! (A company called National Lead went so far as to produce coloring books for children, showing a boy mixing white lead with colors and painting furniture!)
• Then -- thirty years later -- they finally started WARNING people about the dangers of lead. And only because the government forced them to!

Cigarettes kill people. Not even the tobacco companies can deny this any longer (they claim it's "our choice" if we want to smoke).

Smoking-related diseases claim an estimated 438,000 American lives each year, including those affected indirectly, such as babies born prematurely due to prenatal maternal smoking and victims of "secondhand" exposure to tobacco's carcinogens.

Almost half a million people are killed every year from smoking. Yet, for more than 30 years cigarettes were advertised as SAFE.

Recently -- statistics that were primarily obtained from GlaxoSmithKline's own research data -- predict that 35,000 people needlessly died taking a drug called Avandia last year. It also seems like the FDA was fully aware of the risks and chose to ignore them.

An estimated 65,000 people died from the drug VIOXX - even though it was "approved" by the FDA as safe to use.

There are HUNDREDS of examples like this: Big companies profiting from the suffering of others.

A pattern emerges:

• "They" said lead paint was "safe" for over 70 years while children died
• "They" said cigarettes were "safe" while while hundreds of thousands died of lung disease.
• "They" said these drugs were "safe"
• Now "They" are saying cell phones are "safe" enough for our children.

The graveyards are full of people who've died from "safe" products

In 1993, Dr George Carlo, USA's top epidemiologist, was recruited by the communications industry to prove that their cell phones were safe to use.

Normally, it's the government's job to pay for these kinds of studies.

But by offering to pay the $28.5 million out of their own pocket, the communications industry was allowed to operate without any government "supervision" until the results came out. A smart move on their part, as you'll quickly see.

Dr. Carlo spent 6 full years conducting his research.

Then, in 1999, Dr. Carlo's results finally came out. Before being released, each finding had to be independently reviewed by Harvard University's public school for health.

The results were downright shocking. Not at ALL what the phone companies wanted to hear.

According to Dr. Carlo, tests on animals and humans had shown that using your cell phone can cause:

• Leakage of the Blood Brain Barrier - The blood brain barrier acts like a filter system that protects your brain from harmful toxins contained within your blood; if it isn't working properly, your sensitive brain tissue can be damaged beyond repair.
• Formation of Micronuclei - Today, if a doctor notices you have micronuclei forming inside you, he will test for cancer.
• DNA repair disruption - DNA damage is normal, DNA can safely re-build itself. BUT, when cell phone radiation is introduced, DNA repair doesn't always happen, this can result in dangerous mutations when DNA duplicates itself.
• Double the risk of Neural Epithelial Tumors - These rare tumors that grow from the outside of your body inwards (as radiation would flow through you); Dr Carlo's studies show them to be twice as common in cell phone users versus non cell phone users.
• And, an increased risk in Acoustic Neuroma - This is a tumor that grows on the nerve between your ear and your brain. Studies showed a direct pattern between tumor growth and the side of the head used mostly by the cell phone users.

At the 1999 annual convention of the CTIA (The international Association for the Wireless Telecommunications Industry), Dr. Carlo delivered his findings to the board of that organization. In his speech, he urged them to immediately take action and share these findings with the public.

But instead of taking action to protect the public, the cell phone giants unanimously suppressed the reports. (remember, they had paid for the study, and the information was theirs to do with as the pleased).

No alarms were raised, no warning labels appeared on your cell phone box. Instead, they continued with ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS geared towards children.

More Overwhelming Evidence.

Only recently, a neurosurgeon at the Swedish University of Lund, Prof. Leif-Salford, published these alarming images of rat brains before and after exposure to cellular phone radiation...

Before: The rat brain appears to be normal.	After: Dark spots show blood vessel leakage.

You can clearly see the dark spots on the shriveled 2nd brain. That brain has been subjected to cell phone radiation, similar to the exposure received by a heavy user.
